Emotional Intelligence and Resilience: The Armours Against Burnout

Description

The current study intends to investigate the association between Emotional Intelligence, Resilience and Burnout among women in India working in the fields of STEM and non-STEM or AHSS. A cross-sectional sample of 200 women professionals were given the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), Nicholson McBride Resilience Questionnaire (NMRQ) and the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT-12). Through an online survey, data was collected from the professionals working in different private multinational and multidiscipline organizations across India. Descriptive and mediation analysis was done. Findings revealed a negative and significant correlation between emotional intelligence and burnout and among resilience and burnout. Women working in the field of STEM experienced higher level of burnout as compared to women in non-STEM. Resilience also significantly mediated the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout.
