Description

This study examines the effectiveness of the Active Wellness Integrated Physical Education (AWIPE) Curriculum in enhancing college students’ physical literacy, reducing perceived stress, motivation toward physical activity, Physical Education engagement, and lifelong wellness engagement. An explanatory sequential mixed-methods quasi-experimental design was adopted with 437 college students. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS, while qualitative data were analyzed using NVivo. The experimental group demonstrated higher physical literacy (3.25 ± 0.52) than the control group (2.92 ± 0.50), lower perceived stress (2.65 ± 0.58), higher motivation (3.31 ± 0.50), engagement (3.28 ± 0.53), and lifelong wellness engagement (3.47 ± 0.52). All five hypotheses were supported (p < 0.001). The novelty of the current research is associated with the AWIPE Curriculum, which affects physical literacy, perceived stress, physical activity motivation, PE engagement, and lifelong wellness engagement within a single intervention.
