This dataset was collected through structured surveys conducted across 54 rural communities in India to examine the adoption of Jivamritam, a community-based drinking water purification technology. The survey includes responses from 906 individuals and covers demographic characteristics, sources of drinking water, and psychological factors influencing technology adoption. Specifically, the study adopts a two-stage regression strategy that uses cultural traits as instrumental variables to address endogeneity in behavioral adoption models. The dataset supports research on psychological determinants and cultural influences in rural water purification interventions
