Description
This dataset contains chemical, mineralogical, and stable (δ88/86Sr) and radiogenic (87Sr/86Sr) Sr isotope data for gypsum and anhydrite from multiple Mediterranean locations deposited during the Messinian Salinity Crisis (5.97–5.33 Ma). The data provide insights into the potential of calcium sulfates as archives of past seawater stable Sr isotope composition and the effects of water sources, mineral precipitation and recycling, sedimentary facies, and carbonate admixtures on the recorded isotope signatures.
