Description

The global context faces environmental, social and economic problems that require concrete proposals to improve their situation. The political class mentions sustainability as the way to overcome these problems; however, there is confusion about what it represents and little has been studied in the country. For this reason, a measurement instrument was designed to describe the sustainability of cattle ranchers in Sonoyta, Sonora, Mexico. The results indicate that there are efforts to achieve sustainability such as a commitment to reduce the consumption of natural resources and fossil fuels, job training, donations, offering a quality product and improving their production processes; however, there are challenges such as the lack of training in recycling and toxic waste treatment, the lack of support for their workers to continue studying, and the need to improve sales and profits, as well as the lack of incorporation of new technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out new studies to discover the problems faced by producers in other parts of the country and to provide them with greater support through new public policies.
