Description

This dataset contains raw item-level responses and processed composite scores from an online survey of 306 Ukrainian residents, conducted in March–April 2024 during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The data are part of a broader doctoral research project on climate-related emotional experience and its implications for individual mental health. Two files are included: Raw_data.csv — item-level responses. Positive affect (p1–p6) and negative affect (n1–n6), Scale of Positive and Negative Experience; life satisfaction (sl1–sl5), Satisfaction with Life Scale; eco-anxiety components — affective symptoms (H1A–H4A), rumination (H5R–H7R), behavioral symptoms (H8B–H10B), and anxiety about personal environmental impact (H11X–H13X), Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale; pro-environmental behavior — private-sphere (b1–b8) and social-sphere (bs1–bs4) items. Data.csv — a processed composite-score file used for data-consistency checks and, where available, to provide demographic covariates for robustness analyses. The substantive scale scores used in the primary and robustness models are reconstructed directly from the item-level responses in Raw_data.csv. The positive-affect field in Data.csv is not used as an analysis score; positive affect is reconstructed from items p1–p6 in Raw_data.csv.

Steps to reproduce

To reproduce the analyses, download Data.csv and Raw_data.csv and obtain the accompanying R script, Opposing_Pathways_analysis.R (DOI: 10.17632/zd4nszsnnh.1). Place all three files in the same working directory. Open the directory in R 4.5.1 or an R-compatible IDE and run Opposing_Pathways_analysis.R from beginning to end. The required R packages are lavaan, semTools, and psych. The script automatically creates the results_N306 directory containing the analysis outputs.
