Description

This dataset presents a unique collection of 3D flight trajectories of Asian honeybees (Apis cerana) recorded in their natural environment. The data was acquired using a novel and accessible methodology employing synchronized dual smartphone cameras. This approach allowed for the detailed capture of bee movements within a naturalistic setting, offering valuable insights into their complex flight behaviors. The dataset comprises manually annotated video data from the two synchronized camera views, where individual bees were tracked using the CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) platform. To ensure accurate three-dimensional reconstruction, checkerboard camera calibration process was implemented to correct for intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. Subsequently, the three-dimensional coordinates of the bees' flight paths were reconstructed using OpenCV-powered Linear Triangulation. Furthermore, the dataset includes corresponding two-dimensional projections of the bee trajectories, facilitating additional spatial analyses.
