Description

This dataset comprises the 55-entry Literature Analysis Table (LAT) that grounds a critical scoping review of biodiversity-relevant data governance at the EEZ-ABNJ interface of the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem (BCLME). Each entry records, in nine columns, source identifier, citation, research question or focus, theoretical or conceptual framework, methodology, key findings, relevance to the review's research question, limitations and gaps, and analytical notes. The dataset supports the article "Design-time governance conditions for the BBNJ Clearing-House Mechanism: evidence from the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem" (Marine Policy, in submission). Search was executed on 3-4 April 2026 across Scopus, OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and a structured ten-source grey-literature sweep; citation-tested re-verification was performed between 14 April and 6 May 2026. The corpus is organised across seven themes covering BBNJ Clearing-House Mechanism design, global ocean observation systems, biodiversity data platforms, FAIR and CARE data stewardship principles, environmental clearing-house mechanism comparators, regional and national data governance in the BCLME, and ocean data governance through a science and technology studies lens.

Steps to reproduce

This dataset is a literature analysis table produced through a critical scoping review. The search was executed on 3-4 April 2026 across Scopus, OpenAlex, Google Scholar, and a structured grey-literature sweep. Screening, extraction, and synthesis are documented in the README and cleanup log included with this dataset. The cleaned LAT contains 55 entries and preserves the nine-column schema used for source identification, citation, research focus, conceptual framing, methodology, findings, relevance, limitations, and analytical notes.
