Data for: Why Neighbourhood Commercial Districts Follow Different Pathways: Internal Conditions, Hinterland Relations, and Neighbouring Contexts in Seoul
Description
This dataset supports the analysis of long-term survival pathway differentiation among Seoul's Type A alley commercial districts. It includes the final complete-case analytical dataset, survival pathway classifications, and a codebook for the explanatory variables used in the multinomial logit and within-group subtype logit models. The raw commercial-district data were obtained from the Seoul Open Data Plaza, and building-related information was obtained from V-World.

Steps to reproduce
The final analytical dataset was created by combining Seoul Commercial District Analysis Service data with V-World building spatial information. Survival pathway classifications were constructed from quarterly sales, store count, floating population, and opening–closure instability indicators for 2019Q1–2025Q4. The complete-case dataset of 1,016 districts was then used to estimate the multinomial logit model and within-group subtype logit models reported in the associated manuscript. Variable definitions are provided in the codebook file, and additional information is provided in the README file.
