Description

This dataset provides item-level psychometric data on the Teacher Executive Regulation Scale (TERS), a situational judgment test (SJT) developed to measure executive function among Indonesian higher education students preparing for or engaged in teaching. Participants included Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) and undergraduate Education (S1 Pendidikan) students, both in-service and pre-service, recruited through convenience sampling from seven universities in Java, Indonesia. Data were collected using an online questionnaire. The TERS consists of 80 scenario-based items measuring three executive function dimensions: Cognitive Flexibility (CF, 24 items), Inhibitory Control (IC, 40 items), and Working Memory (WM, 16 items). Items cover relevant sub-dimensions, including Change Perspective, Set Shifting, Flexibility & Adaptability, Attention, Cognitive Inhibition, Impulse Control, Discipline & Task Focus, Delay of Gratification, and Maintaining and Manipulating. Each item presents a realistic teaching scenario related to one of eight core teaching skills: opening and closing a lesson, questioning, explaining, using variation, providing reinforcement, teaching small groups and individuals, classroom management, and facilitating small group discussion. Four response options represent respondents’ characteristic ways of thinking, with no objectively correct answer. The dataset also includes demographic information on institution, study program, semester, gender, teaching experience and duration, microteaching history, GPA, and classroom observation experience. Respondent identities were anonymized using subject codes. The dataset is organized into four folders: (1) Fit Measures, Factor Loadings, Cronbach’s Alpha, Means, and Standard Deviations, containing CFA results for the full 80-item and reduced 74-item models, including model fit indices, factor loadings, and reliability estimates; (2) Instrument Items, containing the administered TERS instrument, consent materials, and demographics; (3) Item Blueprint, mapping items to dimensions, sub-dimensions, and teaching-skill indicators; and (4) Raw Data, Construct Reliability (CR), and Average Variance Extracted (AVE), containing item-level responses, demographic data, and CR/AVE calculations. Files are provided in PDF and Excel formats. This dataset supports research on executive function, SJT development, psychometric validation, teacher education, secondary analysis, and cross-cultural replication.

Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the raw data file in JASP. 2. Use Descriptives to obtain the mean and standard deviation. 3. Use Reliability Analysis to calculate Cronbach’s alpha. 4. Use SEM → Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to obtain factor loadings and model-fit indices. 5. Calculate Construct Reliability (CR) and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) using the CFA factor loadings. 6. Compare the results with the provided PDF and Excel files.
