Description

In this study, we reported the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of endangered species, Lutra lutra. The complete mitogenome was 16,537 bp in length in 13 protein coding gene, 22 transfer RNA, 2 ribosomal RNA and 1 control region. The nucleotide base composition of 32.2% A, 27.5% C, 14.5% G and 25.8% T with A-T content higher than C-G content. Phylogenetic analysis based on 13 protein coding genes of Mustelidae showed that supporting the existing 8 subfamilies. Lutra lutra is closely related to L. sumatrana and Lutrinae and Ictonychinae are grouped. The genetic resources of Korean Lutra lutra obtained from this study will provide a variety of genetic studies for Eurasian otters.
