Digital entrepreneurship EIDES data 2018-2025
Description
This dataset includes data corresponding to the EIDES framework compiled from the available official European Commission and JRC sources covering the 2018–2025 period. Data for 2018–2020 were obtained from the JRC Technical Reports on the European Index of Digital Entrepreneurship Systems, while data for 2021–2022 were obtained from the European Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) resources. Data for 2023-2025 were obtained from the European Commission's Digital Decade database. Dataset includes performance values collected for 27 European countries in relation to 8 criteria: C1 - Culture and informal institutions, C2 - Formal institutions, regulation and taxation, C3 - Market conditions, C4 - Physical infrastructure, C5 - Human capital, C6 - Knowledge creation and dissemination, C7 - Finance, C8 - Networking and support. Provided dataset includes source data in files Data_2018_2022.xlsx and Data 2023_2025.xlsx, and annual datasets named dataset_2018 - dataset_2015 in xlsx and csv formats. Names of considered European countries are provided in separate files country_names in xlsx and csv formats.

Steps to reproduce
To construct a consistent annual dataset for the empirical analysis, data corresponding to the EIDES framework were compiled from the available official European Commission and JRC sources covering the 2018–2025 period. Data for 2018–2020 were obtained from the JRC Technical Reports on the European Index of Digital Entrepreneurship Systems, while data for 2021–2022 were obtained from the European Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) resources. Data for 2023-2025 were obtained from the European Commission's Digital Decade database.
