Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping physical education (PE) through data-informed instruction, personalized learning, and enhanced performance monitoring. This data set presents article onAI-driven innovations in PE published between 2020 and 2025.

Steps to reproduce

The review adopted the modified Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines for conducting systematic research reviews (Page et al., 2021). The search string (“artificial intelligent” OR “machiene learning” OR “deep learning”) and (“teaching physical education” OR “PE” OR “sport education” OR “exercise science” OR “movement education”) were entered into the Scopus search engine. Correspondingly, Scopus subject filters were applied. The scope and coverage in this study were based on the search field, time frame, source type, and document type to exclude irrelevant papers. This search yielded 368 documents, After scanning all documents’ abstracts, further exclusions were made based on topical relevance. After screening, 74 documents on AI in PE remained in the final database.
