Integrated homeopathy with standardized levothyroxine therapy for hypothyroidism: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial in children and adults

Description

This double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial evaluated integrated homeopathy with standardized levothyroxine therapy in 64 hypothyroid patients (aged 10–65) over 3 months at an Indian homeopathic hospital. Primary outcome (Zulewski Clinical Score) showed no significant between-group difference, but IHMs significantly improved thyroid markers (T3: mean diff -0.2, p=0.002; T4: +1.6, p<0.001; TSH: -3.0, p=0.033) and certain ThyPRO-39 domains (e.g., symptoms p<0.001) versus placebo+levothyroxine. Both groups improved clinically; ITT analysis confirmed biochemical benefits favoring IHMs, though symptom/QoL gains were inconclusive, warranting larger long-term studies.
