Description

A database containing experimental data on thermodynamic properties resulting from mixing effects (hE and vE) is presented for a set of sixteen binary mixtures composed of benzene or toluene with eight alkanes, from hexane to hexadecane. Both properties were determined at two temperatures: 298.15 K and 318.15 K. The literature contains extensive data on these properties at 298.15 K; however, the discrepancy among the results is significant for solutions containing benzene, whereas the results are somewhat more consistent for solutions containing toluene. For both sets of systems, measurements at 318.15 K are scarce.

Steps to reproduce

Mixing enthalpies were measured using a Calvet calorimeter; the excess volumes were determined from the density measurements using a digital densimeter
