Coding data and analysis code for a screen of input-range justification in photovoltaic-battery techno-economic studies.
Description
This dataset contains the coding data and analysis code underlying a systematic screen of how published photovoltaic-battery techno-economic studies choose the input ranges used in their sensitivity analyses. The coding sheet records, for 37 studies drawn from a stratified sample of the indexed literature, whether each of four cost and financial parameters (photovoltaic capital cost, battery capital cost, discount rate, and battery degradation) was varied, and if so whether the range was justified by empirical evidence, justified by a modelling source, or assumed without justification, on a five-level scheme. Accompanying scripts fit the four empirical reference distributions used to benchmark the conventional ranges, propagate those distributions through two of the coded study designs to quantify the resulting change in levelized-cost uncertainty, verify that the propagation result is stable across modelling assumptions, and compute the inter-rater reliability of the coding against an independent second coder. Together the files allow every classification, distribution, reliability statistic, and propagation result reported in the associated article to be reproduced. Scripts require Python 3 with numpy, scipy, and openpyxl.
