Hong ChenDescription
Interface style is increasingly recognized as a consequential feature of digital systems, yet whether perceptually distinct interface configurations translate into immediate, task-specific relational responses following a single recommendation task remains unclear. In a between-subjects online experiment, 1,081 participants were randomly assigned to one of two bundled interface-style configurations—Warm-humanlike or Cold-rational—in a mobile e-commerce recommendation task; the configurations shared only product identities, the basic task structure, navigation, required actions, and the final task outcome, while expressive framing and product-evidence presentation varied jointly.
