Raw Data: Performance Comparison of Electrode Configurations in Electrocoagulation-Flotation for Raw Water Algae Removal

This dataset contains raw experimental data from a batch electrocoagulation-flotation (ECF) study evaluating four electrode configurations (Series Al–SS, Parallel Al–SS, Series Al–Al, Parallel Al–Al) for algae removal from raw water collected at Suranaree University farm, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Parameters include turbidity removal efficiency (%), pH variation, TDS (mg/L), and specific energy consumption (kWh/m³) at current densities of 10, 20, and 30 A/m² and contact times of 15–60 minutes.

Steps to reproduce
1. Raw Water Collection - Collect raw water from Suranaree University farm, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand - Sample at depth 0.3–0.5 m during active algal bloom - Conduct all experiments within 24 hours of collection 2. Initial Water Quality Measurement - Measure Turbidity (NTU) using turbidity sensor (SN-3001-ZD-N01-200, Zolftech Innovation) - Measure pH using calibrated pH meter (buffer solutions pH 4.01, 6.86, 9.18) - Measure TDS (mg/L) using calibrated conductivity/TDS meter - Measure Temperature (°C) - Record as mean ± SD (n = 3) 3. Reactor Setup - Batch reactor volume: 240 L (PE material) - Fill water to depth 20 cm (effective working volume = 120 L) - Inter-electrode spacing: 1 cm (fixed) - Connect DC power supply (Keysight N8946A, 0–140 A) 4. Electrode Preparation - Aluminum (Al): purity ≥ 99%, plate 30 × 30 cm - Stainless Steel (SS): Grade 304 (Fe 70%, Cr 18%, Ni 8%), plate 30 × 30 cm - Submerge electrodes to depth 20 cm (effective area = 600 cm² = 0.06 m² per plate) 5. Experimental Conditions - Electrode configurations: (i) Series Al–SS (ii) Parallel Al–SS (iii) Series Al–Al (iv) Parallel Al–Al - Current densities: 10, 20, 30 A/m² - Contact times: 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes 6. Sample Collection and Analysis - Collect water samples at t = 0, 15, 30, 45, 60 min - Allow samples to settle for 30 minutes before analysis - Measure Turbidity, pH, TDS at each time point - Record cell voltage every 5 minutes (digital voltmeter) 7. Calculations - Turbidity removal (%): R = [(T₀ − Tₜ) / T₀] × 100 - Energy consumption (kWh/m³): EC = (U × I × t) / V
