Description

This dataset contains frequency-values and corresponding phase shift measurements of photothermal signal generated on turning tool cutting inserts for different samples and different measurement positions on the samples on different days. The format of the data is described in 'Data_Description.txt' and the measurement dates and positions al well as the used insert are listed in the excel-file 'Measurement_Overview_...' The dataset is used to show, that the thickness of turning tool coatings in the range of 10 micrometers can be detected by photothermal measurements and to give a first estimate of the achievable uncertainty.

Steps to reproduce

Step 1: Load frequencies and phase data Step 2: Approximate signal model to data to estimate the coating thickness. Use optimal material parameters for approximation.
