Dataset on soil properties of Bronze and Early Iron Age archaeological sites in the Center of the East-European Plain
Description
This dataset presents comprehensive soil property data from buried and surface soils at eight key archaeological sites of the Bronze and Early Iron Ages, located in the central part of the East-European Plain. The study areas include: 1 – Volkhonskiye Vyselki 2 – Dubravka 3 – Boldyrevka 4 – Devitsa 5 – Sady 6 – Shilovo 7 – Ivanovka 8 – Shakhty For each site, the dataset includes photographs of both buried and surface soils. Morphological descriptions are provided for all soil profiles. Soil horizon designations follow the Russian soil classification systems of 2004 and 1977. The morphological characterization includes the following attributes per horizon: Depth of horizon boundaries Color (including Munsell) Moisture Aggregate structure Particle size distribution Porosity Presence of roots and plant residues Secondary formations Inclusions The dataset is intended for researchers in paleopedology, archaeology, and Quaternary geology, as well as for those studying landscape evolution and anthropogenic impacts on soils during the Holocene.
