Within the framework of the courses Enfoques y Tendencias en Psicología Social, from the Social Psychology area of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, support and volunteering activities have been carried out, such as resource management for food markets, toys, and institutional support for the community in vulnerable sectors. The continuation of these activities is projected through student management within the broader educational community, in order to maintain presence in vulnerable areas of the city by means of donations, celebration of the “fiesta de los niños”, and other fieldwork activities that promote students’ awareness of community needs. These experiences are regarded as an essential part of their professional training, while simultaneously strengthening the community cooperation network in these territories. Community Workshops The proposal is to integrate academic knowledge with community knowledge through the development and implementation of workshops aimed at caregiver teachers who lead community childcare processes for early childhood. For this purpose, joint work is proposed between the Early Childhood program at the Universidad del Valle (with participation of the professor in charge and her students from the course Bases Biopsíquicas del Desarrollo Temprano), and the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia (with participation of the professor in charge and students from the course Enfoques y Tendencias en Psicología Social Comunitaria). A series of participatory workshops will be held to strengthen knowledge related to psychological development in early childhood, benefiting the caregiver teachers of the community childcare centers in the Brisas de Mayo neighborhood. This will be supported and coordinated by the Fundación Solecitos, described as an “entity without profit motives dedicated to improving social well-being, fostering comprehensive educational development, promoting health and supporting research projects, boosting community development, protecting the environment, promoting gender equality and diversity, providing humanitarian aid in cases of natural disasters or crises, fostering culture and the arts, and supporting entrepreneurship and social innovation.”
