Steps to reproduce
In order to obtain suitable sequencing data, we screened the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database for transcriptome sequencing datasets associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (GSE) or lung adenocarcinoma (GSE). Complete information on both datasets can be downloaded from the GEO database. Patient clinical information and genome-wide transcript levels of TCGA-LUAD were obtained from the UCSC XENA database. In our study, we applied background correction and normalization for all raw data and matched all probe names to their corresponding gene symbols, which were then used in subsequent analyses.
