Dataset on the Adoption of CAD/CAM Technology in Dominican Dental Practices Description This dataset contains raw, anonymized data collected from a cross-sectional survey conducted between September and October 2024 among practicing dentists in the Dominican Republic. The objective of the study was to evaluate the adoption, knowledge, and use of Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology in clinical practice. Contents Sample size: 370 respondents (general dentists and specialists). Data type: Survey responses (Excel/CSV). Variables included: Demographics (age, gender, years in practice, type of practice). Professional background (specialty, postgraduate training, work setting). Knowledge and training in CAD/CAM. Availability of CAD/CAM equipment. Clinical use of CAD/CAM (indications, frequency, workflow). Perceived barriers to adoption (cost, training, access to materials). Attitudes and willingness to adopt digital technologies. Format Data are provided in Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) with variables in columns and anonymized responses in rows. Ethics All participants provided informed consent. No personal identifiers are included in the dataset.

Steps to reproduce

Survey Design Review the questionnaire provided as a supplementary file (based on validated items and adapted for the Dominican context). Ensure ethical approval and obtain informed consent from participants. Sampling Identify practicing dentists in the Dominican Republic through professional associations, social media groups, and direct email invitations. Use convenience and snowball sampling until reaching a minimum of 370 participants. Data Collection Distribute the online questionnaire (Google Forms ) . Collect responses electronically and download the raw dataset in Excel (.xlsx). Data Cleaning Remove incomplete responses. Anonymize all records by deleting personal identifiers Code categorical variables numerically Data Storage Organize data in an Excel file Save and upload the cleaned dataset to Mendeley Data (version 1). Statistical Analysis Perform descriptive and inferential analysis using Jamovi. Cross-tabulate CAD/CAM adoption with demographic and professional variables.
