Description

This replication package accompanies the research paper “Accounting domains and the robustness of ecosystem-integrity measurement in nature-based carbon projects.” It contains the frozen analysis code, sample and geometry definitions, provenance and source-integrity records, source hashes, and aggregate expected outputs needed for independent reproduction. The public-safe archive intentionally does not redistribute compact project/domain-level numerical values derived from the upstream 300-m Ecosystem Integrity Index Earth Engine asset because a separate explicit redistribution licence for those raster-derived values was not identified during the release audit. Full reproduction obtains the project-boundary source data from Karnik et al. (2025; CC BY 4.0) and queries the upstream EII Earth Engine asset using the frozen analysis pipeline. No raw GeoPackages or heavy Earth Engine intermediates are redistributed.

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a Python virtual environment and install the pinned dependencies in environment/requirements.txt. 2. Run code/download_sources.py to obtain the six CC BY 4.0 project-boundary GeoPackages and index and verify their source hashes. 3. Run geometry_pair_audit.py, build_wkt_cache.py, and make_sample_sets.py using the frozen rules documented in provenance/. 4. Authenticate Google Earth Engine and query projects/landler-open-data/assets/eii/global/eii_global_v1 using code/eii_pipeline.py and the frozen sample of project IDs. 5. Run the analysis scripts to reproduce the paired PA–PAA results, robustness analyses, tables and figures. 6. Compare generated aggregate outputs with outputs/expected/ and the SHA-256 values in expected_sha256.txt. The original study obtained 114/114 projects and 6,840 numerical comparisons with maximum difference 0.0 across the duplicate extraction. Full details, frozen protocols, source hashes and asset lineage are provided in README.md and provenance/.
