Carvacrol alleviates endoplasmic reticulum stress and inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide by enhancing endoplasmic reticulum autophagy in dairy mammary epithelial cells.
Description
Carvacrol (CAV) exhibits the capacity to augment endoplasmic reticulum autophagy (ER-phagy) in bovine mammary epithelial cells, mitigating endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER-stress) and inflammatory responses, thereby contributing positively to the amelioration of bovine mastitis. By Yang et al. In this paper, the effect of natural plant monomer CAV on enhancing ER-phagy and alleviating ER-stress and inflammation in mammary epithelial cells of dairy cows was discussed in the treatment of mastitis. Through in vivo and in vitro experiments, we found that ER-stress in mastitis tissue was significantly up-regulated, and the ER-phagy pathway, a key pathway that regulates cell homeostasis, was impaired. And CAV was proved to enhance endoplasmic reticulum autophagy. We found that there is a correlation between ER-phagy and ER-stress in dairy mammary epithelial cells, which may be an important direction for the treatment of dairy mastitis.
