The Impact of Using ChatGPT on Pakistani ESL Students’ IELTS Essay Writing Skills, Writing Motivation, Writing Engagement, L2 Grit, Self-directed Learning and Critical Thinking

This data was collected during a research study on the utility of ChatGPT in ESL classes to assist learners enhance their IELTS essay writing skills, self-directed learning skills and the other skills mentioned in the title above. The findings revealed that ChatGTP is helpful in assisting students with their essay writing skills, L2 grit, and critical thinking; however, it also revealed that the traditional approach is more competent in terms of engagement, motivation, and self-directedness.
