Image Processing for Classifying Thai Medicinal Plants using Deep Learning
Description
The species of Thai medicinal plants in this work focus on 13 species, including Hairy basil, Tiger herbal, Betel vine, Mitragyna speciosa, Holy basil, Wildbetal leafbush, Siam weed, Bamboo grass, Laurel clockvine, Siamese neem tree, Kaffer lime, Long pepper, and Kitchen mint. We collected 500 leaf images of each species, totaling 6,500 images, divided into 5,200 samples for supervised learning and 1,300 samples for testing.

Steps to reproduce
Thai medicinal plants data were obtained from Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia, Bureau of Drug and Narcotic, Department of Medical Sciences Ministry of Public Health and Herbal medicine database, Faculty of Pharmacy Ubon Ratchathani University. We plan to collect data on Thai medicinal plant images by photographing them at various locations. The process will begin with defining the types of Thai medicinal plants, determining the number of plants for each species, identifying the locations for capturing the images, preparing the photographic equipment, specifying the methods for taking photographs, arranging the lighting, and setting up the angles, among other tasks.
