ICEL-NMAR Earthquake Catalogue
Description
The ICEL-NMAR Earthquake Catalogue, version 4, contains a list of MW ≥ 4 earthquakes during the period 1900-2023 in Iceland and the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The catalogue is described in the articles [1] and [2], and those who use it for scientific work are requested to cite (one of) those articles. A selection criterion for inclusion in the catalogue is that an earthquake is listed in the ISC Bulletin Event Catalog or in the catalogue of Ambraseys and Sigbjornsson [3] and assigned an MW, MS or mb magnitude. Entries in the catalogue are marked ICEL1 (in the region 63°-67°N, 13°-25°W), ICEL2 (other events in 62°-68°N, 12°-26°W,) or NMAR (other events in 44°–75°N, 0°–40°W together with 67°–73°N, 0°–17°E; covering the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge). Events in the region ICEL1 have reassessed locations but other events have locations copied directly from the ISC catalogue. All events have reassessed magnitudes, including proxy MW obtained with regression. [1] Kristján Jónasson, Bjarni Bessason, Ásdís Helgadóttir, Páll Einarsson, Gunnar B.
