Simulation Results and GIS Maps for Visualizing the Impact of Photovoltaic Cell Temperature on Electricity Production under Various Global Climates
Description
This data repository contains the raw simulation results and the GIS maps for visualizing the simulation results for the study on how cell temperature affects photovoltaic power generation at a global scale. The full paper that includes the assumptions, research method, data analysis, and conclusion of the study has been accepted for publication at the SimBuild 2026 Conference. Article info: Wu, C. (2026). Simulating the Impact of Photovoltaic Cell Temperature on Electricity Production under Various Global Climates. In Proceedings of SimBuild Conference. Dataset Structure: 1. Raw Simulation Results This folder contains six .csv files for six continents. Each file contains 21 columns/fields. The description of the headers is shown below. [Station] - Name of the weather station [State/region] - The region, province, or state the weather station is located in [Country] - The country code of the weather station is located [Station ID] - The six-digit weather station ID [Latitude] - Latitude of the weather station [Longitude] - Longitude of the weather station [Tilt Angle] - Tilt angle of the PV panel in the simulations. 0 degree denotes flat installation on the roof, 90 degrees denotes vertical installation facing south, and -90 degrees denotes vertical installation facing north [Annual_Simple] - Annual photovoltaic electricity production in Wh/m^2, simulated with the Simple Model [Annual_Temp] - Annual photovoltaic electricity production in Wh/m^2, simulated with the cell temperature-aware model [S_1] to [S_12] - Monthly photovoltaic electricity production in Wh/m^2, simulated with the Simple Model. The numbers denote the month, i.e., 1 denotes January, 2 denotes February, and so on [T_1] to [T_12] - Monthly photovoltaic electricity production in Wh/m^2, simulated with the cell temperature-aware model. The numbers denote the month, i.e., 1 denotes January, 2 denotes February, and so on 2. GIS Maps [PV_byTemp.qgz] - a QGIS file that contains the color-coded world maps by difference in PV electricity production. The rest of the files in the folder are support files for the QGIS file, such as shape files, image files, and CSV files for the color-coding, etc.
