Data and code for: Investigating the Effect of Profile-Shift Coefficients on the Nonlinear Dynamic Response of Spur-Gear Transmissions
Description
This dataset supports a systematic numerical investigation of profile-shift effects on the static and nonlinear dynamic transmission error of spur gears. It contains complete profile-shift design grids for 23--23, 50--50, and 28--73 tooth gear pairs at 2, 20, and 200 N m; DTE RMS maps at 800, 3000, and 10000 rpm; full speed sweeps from 1000 to 10000 rpm at 100 rpm increments; static transmission error, contact ratio, mean secant mesh stiffness, estimated natural frequency and primary-resonance speed; selected steady-state responses showing contact loss and coast-side contact; Pearson-correlation outputs; robustness checks; author-generated figures; and MATLAB/Python analysis code. Positive DTE reduction denotes a lower oscillatory DTE RMS than the matching unshifted gear pair. The deposit contains only author-generated data; published experimental benchmark values and the comparison image containing them are not included.

Steps to reproduce
The long-form CSV files are sufficient to reproduce the reported maps, speed-sweep optima, fixed-design comparisons, and statistical analyses without rerunning the nonlinear solver. The MATLAB source is included for methodological transparency and for regenerating the figure families from the supplied result files. Large intermediate lookup-table caches and exploratory/obsolete runs are not part of this curated release. The package was assembled and validated with MATLAB R2020a on 64-bit Windows. See `metadata/software_environment.txt` and `code/README.md` for details.
