Data for unraveling characteristics and influencing factors of the global fluid milk trade network
Description
This dataset supports the analysis of the global liquid milk trade network from 2013 to 2022. The database contains bilateral export trade data for 218 countries and regions, which were used to construct the global liquid milk trade network based on the Harmonized System (HS) code 0401. The dataset covers annual export flows between trading partners and reflects the structural evolution of international liquid milk trade over the study period. In addition, the dataset includes multiple explanatory variables used in the Quadratic Assignment Procedure (QAP) analysis to investigate the driving factors of the liquid milk trade network. These variables include GDP, the proportion of agricultural employment population (EMP), distances between national capitals (DISTCAP), differences in logistics performance (LOP), political stability (PST), and common languages (LANG). GDP, EMP, LOP, and PST data were obtained from the World Bank’s World Development Indicators database (https://databank.worldbank.org/). Data on geographical distances and common languages were sourced from the French CEPII database (https://www.cepii.fr/).To ensure data completeness and consistency, missing observations for a small number of countries in specific years were imputed using data from adjacent years. This database can be used for research on global agricultural trade, milk trade networks, complex network analysis, international food trade systems, and trade relationship determinants.
