Description

This dataset supports the study “Beyond One-Planet Living: Socioeconomic Differences in Individual Ecological Footprints in Gaziantep, Türkiye.” Data were collected through face-to-face surveys with 384 residents of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil districts in 2024. The study examines individual ecological footprints in relation to sociodemographic characteristics, household economic conditions and consumption patterns. Individual footprint estimates were calculated using the Global Footprint Network calculator and expressed as global hectares (gha), the number of Earths required if everyone adopted the respondent’s consumption pattern, and annual carbon emissions (tonnes of CO₂). The consumption domains assessed include food, housing, mobility, goods and services. The data underpin descriptive comparisons and an ordinary least squares regression analysis of the socioeconomic factors associated with individual ecological footprint scores. The cross-sectional design supports the assessment of associations rather than causal relationships.
