Description

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of High-Intensity LASER Therapy (HILT) with and without Myofascial Release (MFR) in individuals with myogenic temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD). A three-group randomized controlled study includin total of 21 participants were allocated into three groups: Group 1 received HILT combined with MFR, Group 2 received HILT alone, and Group 3 received conventional/control treatment. Outcome measures included Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain, TMD Disability Index Questionnaire, Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14), and Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-20 (JFLS-20). All outcomes were assessed before intervention and after two weeks of treatment. The dataset includes demographic characteristics and pre- and post-intervention outcome scores. The findings showed that both HILT alone and HILT combined with MFR produced improvements in pain, TMD-related disability, oral health-related quality of life, and jaw functional limitation. Statistically significant improvements were observed across all outcome measures in Groups 1 and 2. Group 3 showed significant improvements in TMD disability, OHIP-14, and JFLS-20, while the change in VAS pain score was not statistically significant (p = 0.083). Overall, HILT combined with MFR demonstrated greater improvements in disability, oral health-related quality of life, and jaw functional limitation compared with HILT alone and conventional treatment.
