Biometric data of arboreal individuals from ecotonal forests in eastern Maracá Island, northern Brazilian Amazonia
Description
The database provides information on stem measurements of arboreal individuals (tree + palm) from ecotonal forests in eastern Maracá Ecological Station, a federal environmental protected area formed by Maracá Island and small islets in the Rio Uraricoera, State of Roraima, northern Brazilian Amazonia. 129 permanent plots (10 x 50 m each) were established along the six East-West grid trails of the Biodiversity Research Program (PPBio). All arboreal individuals with stem diameter ≥ 10 cm present in the plots were marked with numbered aluminum tags which were fixed by galvanized nails. Diameter measurements were performed using a diameter tape (model 283D / 5m). The dataset is available in a file xlsm showing the identification and geographical location of the sampling units (plots), year of each census (date), identification code of each arboreal individuals, point of measured (POM in mm), stem diameter (cm) and taxonomic group (tree or palm). This dataset was supported by project “Crescimento e mortalidade de árvores em florestas ecotonais de Roraima: efeito das condicionantes ambientais e da variabilidade climática” (Proc. CNPq n. 403591/2016-3). W.R.S. and H.L.S.F. were supported by postgraduate fellowships from PELD Program (CNPq/CAPES/FAPs/BC-Fundo Newton; Proc. n. 441575/2016-1). The Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq - Brazil) provided a fellowship for R.I.B. (Proc. CNPq 304204/2015-3), while C.D.A.V. was supported by postgraduate fellowship from the Organization of American States (OAS).
