Description

The dataset consists of magnetic field recordings of 92 cloud-to-ground flashes analyzed in the manuscript "Post-Return Stroke VHF Electromagnetic Activity in North-Western Mediterranean Cloud-to-Ground Lightning Flashes".

Files

Steps to reproduce

The following files and folder contain the data necessary to reproduce the analysis: Files: - "NegativeFlashes_SLAVIA.txt": Lists all 66 negative cloud-to-ground flashes. Includes the SLAVIA file name, date and time of the first sample, and the time of the first RS pulse peak. - "PositiveFlashes_SLAVIA.txt": Lists all 26 positive cloud-to-ground flashes. Includes the SLAVIA file name, date and time of the first sample, and the time of the first RS pulse peak. - "Meteorage.txt": Contains all Météorage data required for the analysis. Includes the date and time, latitude and longitude, peak current and type of the detected discharge (CG for cloud-to-ground and IC for intra/inter-cloud). Folder: - "SLAVIA_SAETTAraw.zip": Contains data organized in folders by polarity, based on the first RS peak current reported by Météorage. Each folder is named according to the flash number, as listed in "NegativeFlashes_SLAVIA.txt" and "PositiveFlashes_SLAVIA.txt". Each folder includes files "xxE1_start.txt", "xxE1_mag.txt", and "xxE1_time.txt" (related to SLAVIA data); and files with data from individual SAETTA stations "bleska_xx.raw.*station*.xx.txt" (e.g. *station* = A): - "xxE1_start.txt": Start time of the SLAVIA record. - "xxE1_mag.txt": SLAVIA magnetic field data in nT, with corresponding time in ms from the start time of the SLAVIA record in "xxE1_time.txt". - "bleska_xx.raw.*station*.xx.txt": SAETTA data from individual stations - time of VHF source detection in seconds from the last whole 10-minutes (in UTC), power in dBm and number of VHF sources detected in the corresponding 80-µs time interval.
