Description

This data article presents modal test data of 10 uniform cantilever plates and 20 varying-thickness stepped cantilever plates fabricated using PLA through 3D printing and aluminium alloy through CNC machining. In addition, it provides finite element modal (FEM) numerical data obtained from structural models based on different structural theories, with material parameters identified from standard material tests. To analyse the material anisotropy of 3D-printed specimens, 21 tensile specimens were fabricated with 7 different print orientations and tested in repeated material experiments. The dataset contains raw modal test data and non-contact scanning parameters from all experiments, 3D printing tolerance verification and tolerance measurements of all specimens, anisotropy measurements of 3D-printed materials, detailed information and FEM model files of numerical analyses, as well as raw data from uniaxial tensile tests and non-contact modal testing. The related research article “Comparative analysis of beam-plate coupled models for active camber morphing wings” provides a detailed description of the experimental program. >>> FIle Description * 1-1 Modal Test Experiment and Numerical Results.xlsx: Contains the modal frequencies of all specimens from experiments and the dimensionless frequencies.
