Description

This paper introduces a Chinese Weibo dataset for promotion texts related to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement. Relevant Weibo data were collected via Sina Yuqingtong, a public opinion information platform, covering the first two years following RCEP’s entry into force (from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023). The dataset includes key indicators such as Weibo content, content links, release date, reposts, publisher accounts, and follower numbers. It supports investigations into how the textual features of Weibo posts—including source, structural, content and stylistic features—influence the communication effectiveness of RCEP promotional content. It can also provide valuable implications for government departments and official media to optimize their communication strategies for RCEP-related publicity content.

Steps to reproduce

The dataset was collected through the Sina Yuqingtong platform, a public opinion information platform that provides full-scope Weibo data. UWith the keywords "RCEP" and "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement", we selected Blue-V accounts on Weibo and exported the relevant raw data for the period 2022–2023. After removing duplicate content and invalid links, we obtained 1,394 valid entries and organized them into an Excel file. The dataset includes key information such as Weibo content, content links, posting dates, publishing accounts, repost count, and follower numbers.
