Dataset_on_Digital_Competence_and_AI_in_Higher_Education
Description
This dataset provides empirical survey results on the digital competence of engineering and technology undergraduates in Vietnam. The survey instrument was developed by integrating Circular No. 02/2025/TT-BGDĐT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam with the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp 2.2), while incorporating updated indicators regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) application competence. Data were collected online from March 13, 2026, to March 23, 2026, utilizing a random sampling method. Following a two-stage data cleaning and standardization process, the final dataset comprises 1,138 valid responses from learners across diverse majors and academic years. The entire dataset is publicly available in English and consists of two main files: a Microsoft Excel data file featuring the "Code" sheet (which defines and codes 7 demographic variables and 55 digital competence indicators across 6 core domains: information literacy, communication, content creation, safety and security, problem-solving, and AI application) and the "Data" sheet (containing the numerical responses of the 1,138 respondents measured on an 8-point Likert scale from 1 to 8); this is accompanied by a standardized Microsoft Word questionnaire file designed for research replication purposes. As one of the first large-scale empirical datasets assessing AI-integrated digital competence among university students in Vietnam, it serves as a valuable scientific reference for educational administrators in policy-making and digital skills curriculum design, while providing a benchmark for domestic and cross-national comparative studies.
