This dataset includes raw data on physiological responses, milk yield and composition, and blood metabolites of 50 lactating Holstein Friesian (HF) crossbred cows studied from January to December 2024 at the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm, Savar, Bangladesh. Cows from five genetic groups (0%, 50%, 62.5%, 75%, and 87.5% HF) were evaluated under three THI conditions: ≤75, 75–80, and ≥80. Data were collected repeatedly for each cow within every THI phase. Physiological parameters were recorded twice daily during each milk and blood sampling date, and the average of the two readings was used for analysis. Milk and blood samples were collected five times per THI category, resulting in a total of 750 milk and 750 blood samples. This dataset provides insights into how genotype and heat stress affect productivity, physiological responses, and metabolic adaptation in tropical dairy cattle.

Steps to reproduce

1. Select lactating Holstein Friesian (HF) crossbred cows representing different genetic proportions (0%, 50%, 62.5%, 75%, and 87.5% HF). 2. Conduct the study under tropical environmental conditions and classify heat stress levels using Temperature Humidity Index (THI) into three categories: ≤75, 75–80, and ≥80. 3. Record physiological parameters (rectal temperature, respiration rate, and pulse rate) twice daily during each sampling day and use the average values. 4. Collect milk and blood samples repeatedly (e.g., five times per THI category for each cow). 5. Measure dry matter intake (DMI), milk yield, and milk composition using standard laboratory procedures. 6. Analyze blood samples for metabolic indicators using appropriate biochemical methods. 7. Organize data by genetic group and THI category and perform statistical analysis to evaluate the effects of genotype and heat stress.
