Description

ABSTRACT Background: Stress urinary incontinence is a common disorder, it is an involuntary loss of urine, and occurs because the pressure of the abdominal is increased.1 It is also due to the malfunction of the urethral sphincter or there is a weakness of the urethra2. Around 4%-14% of younger women and 12%, -35% of older women are affected by stress urinary incontinence.3 Mechanical low back pain is also the most common musculoskeletal disability among the population, back pain is due to irregular stress and strain on muscles of the spine, mechanical pain is the pain that arises from the spine, intervertebral disc4. According to the older studies as said that the low back pain is prevalent in adults between 60% -80%.5 Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between prolonged standing and stress urinary incontinence in female farmers with low back pain. x Method: Female farmers 35 years to 55 years of age were recruited using the purposive sampling technique in the present cross-sectional study. Participants signed the consent form. Assessment included the demographic data of each individual. The demographic data included i.e name, age, gender, and occupation of the individual. The assessment was done using the following two scales which are modified Oswestry low back pain disability index (MODI) and Questionnaires for urinary incontinence (QUID). Result: Out of 77 female farmers participants ( mean age- 45.6, height- 162.6, weight- 71.8, and BMI- 27.4) who having stress urinary incontinence with low back pain is 75% and having urge incontinence with low back pain is 25%. Therefore, the result of this present study shows the prevalence of stress urinary incontinence in female farmers with mechanical low back pain owing to prolonged standing is 75%. Conclusion: Stress urinary incontinence is a common disorder, it is an involuntary loss of urine, and occurs because the pressure of the abdominal is increased.1 It had been seen a higher prevalence of stress urinary incontinence in female farmers with mechanical low back pain.
