Description

This dataset provides the biochemical data used in the article “Tissue-specific markers of salinity-induced allostasis in the very euryhaline and widespread mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis” (Stakowian et al., 2025, Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A). It includes the original measurements of enzymatic activities, total protein content and fresh weight obtained from different tissues of M. galloprovincialis exposed to five salinity levels (20, 25, 30, 35, and 40) for 14 and 28 days. Tissues dg: Digestive gland g: Gills mu: Muscle ma: Mantle Column names and description time: Exposure duration in days (14 or 28). tissue: Tissue sampled (dg, g, ma or mu). salinity: Salinity of exposure (20, 25, 30, 35, or 40). sod(% inib, Pyrogallol): Activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD). gpx: Activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx). gr(nmol/mL): Activity of glutathione reductase (GR). gsts(nmol/mL): Activity of glutathione S-transferases (GSTs). cbes(nmol/mL): Activity of carboxylesterases (CbEs). ache(nmol/mL): Activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). protein(mg/g FW): Total soluble protein content per gram of fresh tissue (mg/g FW). fresh_weight_FW(g): Mean fresh weight (g) of the tissue sample used for biochemical analyses. See published article for details about the methodology.
