Description

This dataset contains measurements of methylmercury (MeHg) concentrations in seawater and across the sediment–water interface, together with data characterizing the in situ formation and degradation of MeHg in the water column and sediments of the Yellow River Estuary, a representative coastal system in China.

Steps to reproduce

Seawater and sediment samples were collected from the Yellow River Estuary. Methylmercury (MeHg) concentrations were measured in seawater and across the sediment–water interface. In situ MeHg formation and degradation in the water column and sediments were quantified using stable-isotope tracer incubation experiments. The dataset includes concentration measurements, incubation data, calculated formation and degradation rates, and the source data underlying the figures and tables in the associated manuscript. Detailed procedures for sampling, incubation, chemical analysis, and rate calculations are provided in the corresponding manuscript.
