Dataset on Digital Competence, AI Literacy, Generative AI Use, Organizational Support, Public Service Motivation, and Work Performance among Indonesian Civil Servants
Description
This dataset contains empirical survey data from 1,000 Indonesian civil servants collected through a structured online questionnaire using Google Forms between 12 March and 12 June 2026. The dataset was developed to document digital competence, artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, Generative AI use, perceived organizational support, public service motivation, and work performance among civil servants in Indonesia. The dataset contains seven respondent profile variables, 45 psychometric items covering five principal constructs, and seven behavioral indicators of Generative AI use. The psychometric constructs comprise Digital Competence, AI Literacy, Perceived Organizational Support, Public Service Motivation, and Work Performance. The Generative AI indicators document work-related use status, frequency, duration, platforms, work-related tasks, verification practices, and reasons for non-use. The dataset includes the original item-level responses together with derived construct-level scores and dimension-level scores for Public Service Motivation and Work Performance. The data package is accompanied by supporting documentation describing variable definitions, response coding, scoring procedures, data cleaning, and technical validation. The instrument development process included expert review, cognitive pretesting with 20 civil servants, and a pilot study involving 150 civil servants before the main survey. The main dataset was collected using voluntary online participation with informed consent. No direct personal identifiers, such as names, employee identification numbers, telephone numbers, or email addresses, were collected. The dataset is intended to support secondary analysis, replication, measurement comparison, and further research in public administration, digital government, artificial intelligence, public-sector human resource management, organizational behavior, and related fields.

Steps to reproduce
The dataset was collected through a structured online questionnaire administered using Google Forms to Indonesian civil servants between 12 March and 12 June 2026. The dataset was checked for duplicate records, variable consistency, response ranges, missing values, and logical routing of the Generative AI questions. Psychometric responses were retained at the original item level using five-point response scales. Generative AI indicators were treated as behavioral variables rather than as a single psychometric scale. Composite scores for Digital Competence, AI Literacy, Perceived Organizational Support, Public Service Motivation, and Work Performance were calculated when at least 80% of the corresponding constituent items contained valid responses. The accompanying codebook and data-processing documentation provide the variable definitions, response coding, scoring procedures, and technical validation procedures required for reuse and secondary analysis.
