Steps to reproduce

The data extraction for this systematic literature review was conducted through a structured and iterative process to ensure consistency and comprehensiveness. Following the initial screening of titles and abstracts, full-text articles that met the inclusion criteria were processed for detailed data mining. The primary data points extracted for each eligible study were organized into the following six key variables: (i) Mapped Parameters: This variable captured the specific water-related parameters or qualities that were the focus of the geospatial analysis. Extractors identified and recorded direct parameters, such as groundwater potential zones, water quality, surface water, and land use land cover. (ii) Factors Affecting Water Availability: This category documented the drivers or stressors on water resources that the study investigated or identified. Data extracted here included, geology, lineament density, soil, rainfall, slope, lithology and land use/land cover change, or discussed in the article. (iii) Case Study: For research focused on a specific geographical location, the case study area was recorded. This included the name of the water body or region. (iv) Mapping Techniques: This variable detailed the methodological approaches employed, for instance, GEE, GIS, AHP, MCDA, inverse distance weighting, remote sensing, Landsat data, and various mapping techniques. (v) Studies’ Major Outcomes: This section summarized the key findings and conclusions of the research. It involved concisely capturing the main results or intervention. (vi) Reviewed Article Details and Abstract: This final section recorded the bibliographic information for systematic reference tracking, including Author(s), Year of Publication, Article Title, Journal Name, Volume, and Page Numbers. The complete Abstract was also copied verbatim to provide a readily accessible summary of the study's aim and scope within the dataset. All extracted data was systematically organized and compiled into a master CSV spreadsheet to facilitate sorting, filtering, and subsequent qualitative and quantitative synthesis.
