Description

This dataset contains the field measurement data used in the study entitled “Development and Field Validation of a UEP Sensor-Based Method for Measuring Current Density in Marine Steel Structures.” The dataset includes forward and reverse underwater electric potential (UEP) measurements, electrical conductivity, depth information, and the calculated current density values obtained for a steel pipe pile in a pier-type quay wall in the Minato-Mirai district of Yokohama, Japan. These data were used for the analysis presented in Figs. 7–9 of the associated manuscript. A README file is included to explain the contents of the dataset and the meanings of the variables.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce Open the file “Field_measurement_data.xlsx” and select one of the three worksheets (Set1, Set2, or Set3), each of which corresponds to an independent field measurement set. For each measurement position, read the forward and reverse UEP measurements together with the conductivity and depth data. Use the forward and reverse measurements to calculate the offset component and the IR drop according to Eqs. (4) and (5) in the associated manuscript. Then calculate the current density from the IR drop and the measured conductivity according to Eq. (7) in the associated manuscript. The resulting current-density profiles correspond to the data presented in Figs. 7–9 of the associated manuscript.
