The review adopted the modified Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines for conducting systematic reviews of research (Page et al., 2021). The search string "geography" AND ("Educat* technology" OR "learn* technology" OR "instruct* technology" OR "technology in educat*" OR "digital learn* tools") were entered into the Scopus search engine.
