Decoupled motors with shared bedplate
Description
Decoupled motors with shared bedplate is an experimental vibration dataset designed to study the identification of two independently operating motors mounted on a common bedplate. The test rig consists of two mechanically independent systems. Motor 1 is coupled to a shaft supported by bearings, while Motor 2 is coupled to a gearbox. Both motors are mounted to the same bedplate but are not mechanically coupled to each other. Therefore, they can operate simultaneously at different rotational speeds. The shared baseplate provides a mechanical vibration transmission path between the two systems. The dataset contains three tests: - M1.txt: Motor 1 operating alone at 50 Hz. - M2.txt: Motor 2 operating alone at 35 Hz. - M1_M2.txt: Both motors operating simultaneously, with Motor 1 at 50 Hz and Motor 2 at 35 Hz. The main objective of the dataset is to support the development and validation of signal-processing methods capable of identifying the vibration contribution of each motor when both machines operate simultaneously on the same structure. Vibration measurements were acquired using PCB 608A11 accelerometers, with a sampling frequency of 20.480 Hz and an antialiasing filter set to 8.000 Hz. The recorded channels are ordered as follows: Tach, M1 Vert, M1 Hor, M1 Ax, Ib Brg Vert, Ib Brg Hor, Ib Brg Ax, M2, Bedplate, Gearbox Ax, Gearbox Vert, Gearbox Hor, Prox Probe1, Prox Probe2, Motor Cur1, Motor Cur2 The channels relevant to this study are: - M1 Vert: Vertical radial vibration measured on Motor 1. - M1 Hor: Horizontal radial vibration measured on Motor 1. - M1 Ax: Axial vibration measured on Motor 1. - M2: Vertical radial vibration measured on Motor 2. - Bedplate: Vertical vibration measured on the baseplate, at the midpoint between the two motors. The remaining channels correspond to other components or measurements available on the test rig and are not considered relevant for the present study. Each data file includes a row labelled “Volts/Unit”, which contains the calibration factor for each channel. Calibrated values are obtained independently for each column as: Calibrated value = recorded value / corresponding Volts/Unit value

The testrig used is the MFS (Machine Fault Simulator) from Specrtraquest with the addition of the motor with gearbox. For vibrational noise reduction, the belt connecting the bearing shaft with the rig gearbox is removed, so the rig gearbox is not running.
