Research on Carbon Storage through the Interaction between Coccolithophores and Bacteria
Description
We conducted a 90-day rigorously controlled laboratory experiments for characterizing dissolved organic carbon produced by coccolithophore Gephyrocapsa huxleyi, bacterium Ruegeria pomeroyi, and their co-culture. This file includes the raw data and the accompanying code used to generate all figures presented in the study. The analyses cover the following aspects: (1) the distribution of persistent CRAM (defined as formulas consistently detected at all sampling time points) across the three cultivation groups (Algae, Bacteria, and Algae + Bacteria), with a detailed breakdown of exclusive components, pairwise overlaps, and the shared core among the three groups; (2) the latitudinal trend of occurrence frequency and the vertical depth profiles of molecular characteristic proportions (e.g., elemental ratios and indices) for CRAM formulas derived from the global DOM dataset; (3) the vertical distributions of the relative proportions of major compound classes (CHO and CHON/S, including CHON, CHOS, and CHONS) among CRAM formulas unique to each culture group, resolved across distinct oceanic depth zones; and (4) multi‑dimensional visualizations of molecular transformation networks, revealing potential connectivity and reaction pathways among the identified CRAM molecules. All plotting routines and data processing steps are fully documented in the provided code, ensuring reproducibility of the results.
