Description
This dataset was constructed using microdata from the 2017–2018 Household Budget Survey (Pesquisa de Orçamentos Familiares – POF), conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Its primary objective is to examine the relationship between energy poverty and food insecurity among Brazilian households. The unit of analysis is the household. The dataset includes socioeconomic, demographic, and housing characteristics, as well as indicators constructed to measure energy poverty and food insecurity. The data were obtained through the processing and integration of multiple modules from the 2017–2018 POF, enabling statistical analyses of the association between energy access and consumption conditions and household food insecurity. The analytical sample consists of 48,925 households, representing an estimated population of 66,790,258 Brazilian households after the application of survey sampling weights. The complex survey design of the POF was preserved throughout the analyses, encompassing 575 strata and 5,464 primary sampling units (PSUs). The dataset includes indicators of food insecurity, measures of energy poverty, household expenditures, income, family composition, housing characteristics, and other control variables used in the empirical analyses. The empirical strategy relies on logit models, ordered logit models, and instrumental variable (IV) techniques. The replication package includes the file basefinal-artigo2-posdefesa.dta, which contains the final analytical dataset; dofilefinal-article.do, which contains the Stata code used for data processing and estimation; and results_article_log.log, which provides the estimation log and corresponding outputs. The files figure1.R and figure2.R, together with the spreadsheets tudo.xlsx and tudo_peso.xlsx, contain the scripts and supporting data used to generate the figures presented in the article.

Steps to reproduce
1. Obtain the microdata from the 2017–2018 *Pesquisa de Orçamentos Familiares* (POF) from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). 2. Configure the working directories as specified in the Stata script. 3. Execute the file titled “dofilefinal-article.do,” made available in the repository. 4. The script performs data cleaning, constructs variables related to energy poverty, food insecurity, and sociodemographic characteristics, and generates the final analytical dataset. 5. The log file (.log) documents all executed steps, commands applied, and results produced during the data processing stage.
