Description

The dataset used in this study consisted of publications related to Virtual Reality (VR) applications in Physical Education (PE) retrieved from the Scopus database. Data collection was conducted using a structured search strategy based on the TITLE-ABS-KEY function and guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. The search process focused specifically on VR-related studies within PE contexts published between 2019 and 2025.Following several stages of refinement, screening, and eligibility assessment, a final dataset of 86 English-language journal articles was retained for bibliometric analysis. The dataset included bibliographic information such as publication titles, authors, source titles, publication years, author affiliations, countries, keywords, abstracts, and citation metrics. Additional data cleaning and harmonisation procedures were performed using bibliometric software and OpenRefine to ensure consistency and remove duplicate or irrelevant records. The final dataset served as the basis for analysing publication trends, citation performance, productive authors, institutions, countries, source titles, and keyword co-occurrence patterns related to VR research in PE.
